At The Neu Zoo & Old Pug Rest Home, every animal has a unique and heartwarming story. Our sanctuary is home to over 50 previously abandoned, abused, or special needs animals, each with their own journey to safety and recovery. Whether they are farm animals, pugs, or cats, the animals who come through our gates have been given a second chance at life.
Introducing Our Farm Animals
Our farm animal residents are some of the most charming and beloved creatures at the sanctuary. Take Bernie, for example—a lively goat who was rescued from a neglectful situation. When he first arrived, Bernie was timid and malnourished, but with time and the right care, he has transformed into a confident, affectionate animal who loves to explore his surroundings.
Rusty, our large, gentle pig, came to us after being abandoned by his previous owner. Today, Rusty enjoys spending his days rooting in the dirt and lounging in the sun, all under the watchful eye of our dedicated staff.
Other residents, like Bodhi the sheep and Honey the miniature horse, have equally inspiring stories of resilience. Despite the hardship they faced, each of these animals has found a forever home at The Neu Zoo, where they are safe and loved.
Our Pug Family: Special Needs and Senior Dogs
Pugs hold a special place in our hearts here at The Neu Zoo & Old Pug Rest Home. Many of our pugs are seniors or have special medical needs, making them unlikely candidates for adoption elsewhere. Take Mikey, for example—an elderly pug with significant health issues. When Mikey first arrived, he had limited mobility and was struggling with several medical conditions. Thanks to the care and attention of our staff, Mikey has regained his zest for life and enjoys being doted on by his human caregivers.
Rocky, another member of our pug family, was rescued from a hoarding situation and initially showed signs of severe anxiety. Today, with the help of our volunteers and the companionship of other pugs, Rocky is beginning to open up and enjoy his time at the sanctuary.
Our Cats: The Feline Residents of the Sanctuary
Maximus, Misty, and Tut are just a few of the cats who call The Neu Zoo home. Maximus came to us as a stray with an injured paw, and after months of rehabilitation, he’s now one of the friendliest cats at the sanctuary. Misty, shy at first, has learned to trust people again after years of neglect, while Tut loves nothing more than curling up in the sun, enjoying the peace of his new home.
The Rainbow Bridge Gang
We also honor those who have crossed the Rainbow Bridge—beloved animals who spent their final days at The Neu Zoo surrounded by love. Jaxson, Buddy, and Pugsley, among others, left an indelible mark on our hearts, and we are grateful for the time we were able to share with them.
Conclusion
The stories of our residents are a testament to the power of love, care, and compassion. At The Neu Zoo & Old Pug Rest Home, every animal is given the opportunity to heal, grow, and experience a life filled with joy. We are privileged to be a part of their journey and invite you to visit, volunteer, or support our sanctuary as we continue to provide a safe haven for animals in need.
